PROTECTION OF BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY AND ECOSYSTEMS IN THE PARSĘTA RIVER BASIN THROUGH EDUCATION OF CHILDREN AND YOUTH

The Foundation implemented contract no. 1/2015 of 24.03.2015 between the Environmental Education Center in Lipie for conducting educational activities for children and youth from the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The project was implemented from the funds of the Financial Mechanisms of the European Economic Area. As part of the contract, the Foundation in 2015 trained 4,032 children from primary and secondary schools during 51 one-day and 61 two-day sessions. This constituted a total of 2,076 training hours.

As part of the workshop program, trips to the swimming pool in Świdwin and to the Hortulus Gardens in Dobrzyca were carried out. The aim of the educational activities was: developing sensitivity to the problems of the natural environment in the immediate surroundings, learning about biological diversity and ecosystems in the Parsęta river basin, making students aware of the threats resulting from the lack of respect for forest, meadow and river ecosystems, encouraging participants to take actions to preserve biological diversity, building awareness and natural sensitivity of the local environment by children and youth.
