The project’s aim is to reduce inequalities in access to social services within the scope of family support and foster care services. The project’s objective is the comprehensive development of family support services and the family foster care system, as well as undertaking comprehensive actions in 4 districts of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship (the area of the Special Inclusion Zone) to develop family foster care, support the process of becoming independent, and strengthen the parental and educational competences of families in crisis.
The project will support at least 362 individuals, including at least: 120 biological parents (70 women and 50 men), including those experiencing care and upbringing difficulties; 20 biological children (10 girls and 10 boys) living in families experiencing care and upbringing difficulties, including individuals at risk of domestic violence and those in or after a crisis; 12 individuals (8 women and 4 men) who are family support staff; 30 (20 women and 10 men) candidates for foster families and family children’s homes; 60 (38 women and 22 men) individuals providing care for children in „transitional” forms, i.e., in foster families and family children’s homes; 120 (64 women and 56 men) children in foster families and/or residents of family children’s homes, and residents of residential care facilities, including at least 30 (18 women and 12 men) individuals in the process of becoming independent.
The project’s activities are focused on creating a support network for families in crisis and supporting children with special needs in foster care. The project also creates conditions for increasing the number of foster families, improving the quality of support for children and families, and strengthening the parental competences of residents of 4 neighboring districts in the south-eastern and central parts of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The main tasks include: support for families through the creation of support centers, parenting schools, and the provision of specialized counseling, the aim of which is the social integration of individuals at risk of poverty or social exclusion and the improvement of their living situation; support for the deinstitutionalization of foster care through the effective recruitment and training of candidates for foster families and family children’s homes, and the improvement of skills of those providing family foster care; the promotion of foster care and adoption, which in the long term will lead to the deinstitutionalization of services through: a reduction in the number of children in institutional facilities, an increase in interest in foster care/adoption, and raising care standards; as well as increasing the effectiveness of the process of becoming independent and raising the social and professional competences of the supported individuals (training vouchers, co-financing of education and participation in cultural and educational life), and preparing the supported individuals for independent living.
