The project has been implemented since 2014 under grant agreement no. The project is implemented in an international partnership. The partner institution was the Institute for Financial Literacy in Reykjavik. The project funding amount was PLN 350,000.00. Aflateen is an innovative program created by the global Aflatoun network and the MasterCard Foundation specifically for young people aged 12-18. It is the only program aimed at teenagers that closely combines social and financial activities, based on permanent clubs, not ad hoc actions. The pilot implementation of the teaching material included adapting educational materials and preparing the first 128 educators, who established a network of Aflatoun clubs, where innovative classes were conducted for 1,280 young people aged 12-18.
The program consisted of 3 elements:
Workshops for educators – an innovative training program was developed for people who work or plan to work with young people. During the 3-day classes, program educators were prepared, while providing an innovative educational tool. Participants were provided with accommodation, meals and an educational package.
Educational tool – Participants of the workshops for educators received the necessary tools to work with young people. The entire material is based on 5 key thematic sections, which are arranged in sequence:
Section 1: Understanding and discovering;
Section 2: Rights and obligations;
Section 3: Saving and Spending;
Section 4. Planning and Budgeting Tools;
Section 5. Guides to Social and Financial Ventures.
Aflateen Clubs – Aflateen educators conducted workshops for young people as part of the Aflatoun Club launched together with young people. Club participants had the opportunity to prepare an independent social or financial venture, for which they could receive support up to PLN 500.
